Student activities: The college's Student Life program provides opportunities to expand education beyond the traditional classroom. Studies have shown that participation in student activities and student life is as important to obtaining a comprehensive college education as the coursework itself. Student Life includes 17 student clubs and organizations; fine arts opportunities in music and theater; and student ambassador and student government programs.

Housing: Since this is a commuter college, there is no dormitory housing on campus. An apartment complex on the college property does provide student housing.

Rochester Community and Technical College was founded in 1915 on a motion by Dr. Charles Mayo to the Rochester School Board. The college serves approximately 7,500 students in credit-based enrollments and 3,000 in noncredit courses.
