Foundation Executive Director
Vacancy Announcement
Responsible for managing activities relating to the analysis, planning, execution, control and evaluation of the fund raising and selected public relations programs for the RCTC Foundation. The Executive Director works through the Foundation Board, its committees and college staff, faculty and administrators when appropriate, for all fund raising programs. This includes public relations activities designed to support fund raising. Support from constituencies includes alumni, parents, friends, corporations, foundations, employees and grant-making organizations. Components of fund raising efforts include annual fund, capital fund raising, corporation and foundation relations, planned giving and special projects. The Executive Director will also be available and lend resources and expertise for efforts to capture special funding resources for projects and programs for RCTC. Specific responsibilities include:
· Works with the RCTC Foundation Board and committees to achieve the mission, goals and objectives of the RCTC Foundation.
ü Administers the scheduling of board meetings, special board meetings and committee meetings; including determining agendas, sending notices and overseeing all arrangements.
ü Works directly with board members, including recruitment and orientation of new board members.
ü Administers investment policy as determined by board, works with financial advisors, investment chairman and committee. Monitors cash balances and investment options. Works with accountant on monthly financials and annual audits. Submits state and federal requirements for tax-exempt and non-profit status.
ü Administers the Scholarship Program. Maintains up to date scholarship information sheets. Works with scholarship underwriters, develops application process, markets scholarships to target audience, institutes and schedules scholarship review process, notifies recipients, plans and implements scholarship award night and subsequent public relations.
ü Oversees the tracking of donors, prospects, alumni and others as well as data necessary for MnSCU and College reporting purposes.
· Implements fund raising campaigns and initiatives.
ü Administers annual fund campaign as well as capital campaigns when determined by Board.
ü Works with Board and Administration to determine campaign case statement, goals and objectives, as well as any special fund raising projects or needs.
ü Develops campaign materials and tools.
ü Maintains relationships with donors, corporate underwriters, alumni, friends and other potential funders to the RCTC Foundation.
ü Promotes and manages planned giving efforts, including helping to identify and cultivate planned giving prospects. Administers special recognition efforts for planned giving donors and prospects.
ü Determines public relation needs and scope to enhance the image of the Foundation and the effectiveness of its fundraising objects.
ü Maintains data base of donors, prospects, constituents and other categories as determined by Foundation needs and RCTC needs.
ü Organizes and administers annual fundraising event “Beat the Odds.” Working with a committee, the Director oversees solicitation and selection of scholarship applicants, dinner event details, sales of tables and tickets, sponsorships, program preparation, print materials, interviews and videotapes production.
· Works on behalf of RCTC to administer the Visiting Scholar/ Common Book/ Rochester Reads Programs for University Center Rochester, participate on school committees, and supports special projects and programs at the request of administration and faculty. The Executive Director works, where applicable, in fund raising, donor relations, alumni relations, and public relations.
ü Administers and coordinates events, including working with invited lecturers/authors for Visiting Scholar, Common Book series; including making appropriate arrangements for speaking facilities, accommodations and payment of stipends or fees.
ü Works with RCTC staff and faculty to determine programming needs.
ü Participates in Commencement Planning and execution to support alumni efforts.
ü Oversees the database available to the College for mailings and outreach.
· Supervises the RCTC Foundation Office staff.
ü Determines office goals and objectives in alignment with Foundation, MnSCU and RCTC goals.
ü Assigns work and prepares position descriptions for the staff in the RCTC Foundation Office.
ü Chairs search teams and recommends appointments to vacant positions.
ü Provides orientation and training for new staff to ensure they are prepared to perform their responsibilities.
ü Conducts probationary and annual performance reviews and grants/denies progression increases; recommends rewards to recognize excellence and promotions to recognize growth as positions evolve.
ü Provides coaching, mentoring and assistance to staff with annual development planning efforts and developing a unit development plan.
ü Provides recognition of staff efforts and cultivates an engaging and respectful work environment.
ü When appropriate, takes corrective or disciplinary action and effectively recommends certification/non-certification, suspension, or discharge when corrective action or progressive discipline has not resulted in the desired results.
ü Approves leave and bi-weekly timesheets.
ü Provides assistance to the President and the Human Resources Office in responding to grievances, complaints or concerns.
· Gathers data and submits annual report to MnSCU on funding resources captured by RCTC and the RCTC Foundation.
ü Maintains necessary documents and requirements for grant applications.
ü Where appropriate, provides fiscal management and administrative assistance of grant funds.
ü Oversees fund raising policy of RCTC, tracking fund raising projects from campus clubs and departments.
ü Collects information and submits Title III status qualification.
The Foundation Executive Director requires extensive experience and knowledge of grant writing requirements and protocols, budget and personnel management, and project planning and implementation. The successful candidate must demonstrate that s/he possesses the following qualifications:
ü Bachelor’s degree required; master’s preferred.
ü 3-5 years professional experience that demonstrate:
o Exceptional skills in public relations, interpersonal communication, goal-setting, and problem solving.
o Excellent leadership, organizational and supervisory skills.
o Proficiency in the use of computer technology including donor and alumni software applications.
o Understanding of financial investments, markets and financial reporting as well as current development trends and practices.
o Demonstrated success in developing grant proposals and implementing a program or project upon approval of the grant.
o Knowledge of funding opportunities and ability to seek out new sources.
o Ability to read and understand financial reports and spreadsheets
o Ability to create print materials and campaign case statements.
o Ability to develop and implement public relations opportunities and donor recognition program(s).
o Ability to work in a dynamic environment.
o Sensitivity to and an understanding of diverse student and other stakeholder needs and requirements.

This is a full-time MnSCU Academic Supervisor 1 position covered by the Middle Management Association (MMA) bargaining agreement. Beginning (minimum) annual salary is approximately $43,618 and placement on the salary schedule shall be commensurate with experience and qualifications pursuant to the compensation grid for MnSCU Academic Supervisor 1 classification within the MMA bargaining agreement, and includes excellent fringe benefits.
