The “Golden R”

History of the “Golden R”

Since 1923 the “Golden R” has been recognized as one of the highest awards any student can receive at Rochester Junior College. It is usually awarded at the end of each year to the boy and girl who have been judged to have rendered praiseworthy and meritorious service in school activities which are beneficial to and in the best interests of RJC. Moreover, in making the awards, the faculty and students consider the qualities of character and scholarship in conformity to the ideals of the school. Therefore, the students who have received these awards in the past are recognized as leaders among their fellow students.

The Booster Cup

History of the Booster Cup

In 1923 a group of interested businessmen presented the Booster Cup to RJC. Each year a sophomore student, who has been chosen by the entire student body as the school’s best booster, has there name engraved upon the cup. The purpose of the cup is not only to recognize outstanding school spirit and loyalty, but also to stimulate and increase interest in activities and projects of the school. The students who received this honor are the energetic, faithful, and loyal ones.
