PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AT RCTC
Adjunct and part-time faculty members are encouraged to participate in professional development!
All of the local professional development activities are free, and all faculty members are encouraged to participate. Please check out the RCTC - CTL (Center for Teaching and Learning) website for more information:

In addition, each academic year, MNSCU-CTL (Center for Teaching and Learning) has many conferences held at various places throughout the state. These conferences are sometimes free, but even if there is a cost incurred, it is minimal. You are also encouraged to attend these conferences, especially the discipline-related workshops that are held. For a complete yearly listing of the MNSCU-CTL conferences and workshops, check out this website:

FUNDING REIMBURSEMENT
Our local MSCF does have a local PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE, which is responsible for disseminating funds to faculty members for professional activities. Each year, that committee establishes guidelines on how much is available per faculty member per year, and the amount generally ranges from $500 to $1000. Adjuncts and part-time faculty can apply for these funds on a pro-rata basis - thus if you are ½ time, and the amount allotted for the year is $1000, you would qualify to receive $500. Things that qualify include the costs incurred for professional development activities: going to conferences, presenting at conferences, taking classes, etc.
The money will be received by you in your regular check.
If you have any questions, contact your dean or your department chair. And do participate!
