Transfer Admission

A student who began an academic program at another college or university, but wishes to complete it at RCTC can begin taking classes by submitting the RCTC application form, an official transcript of high school credits, and official transcripts from all colleges previously attended.

  1. When deciding to transfer to RCTC you must first fill out the application for admission. You must be formally admitted to RCTC prior to enrolling in any course.
  2. Request official transcripts from your high school (or copy of GED). RCTC admission policy requires all applicants must submit an official high school transcript or GED certificate, even if you already hold a college degree.
  3. Have official transcripts from all prior colleges be sent directly to RCTC. A written evaluation of which courses transfer and how they apply to your specific degree requirements will be mailed to you.
  4. You will receive registration instructions once your admission application is approved. Follow those instructions to select the appropriate courses and register at RCTC.

Course Transfer Resources:

u.select (formerly Course Applicability System (CAS)) - Gives transfer students direct access to course acceptability, equivalency and applicability among participating institutions across the United States, enabling students to immediately see how their courses fulfill degree requirements at the desired college or university.

Minnesota Transfer - Your official guide for seamless transfer in MN higher education.

RCTC Credit Evaluation - Upon receiving your official transcript(s), a credit evalution is conducted. Students are notified via email how to access the Degree Audit Report System (DARS) and view how courses transferred. We strive to have evaluations completed within 2-3 weeks of receipt of the official transcript(s). However, during peak times of the academic year, the turn-around time could increase to 6 weeks. Bring your evaluation to your registration session. If you have not received a completed evaluation prior to registration, bring an unofficial copy of your transcript(s) for review. If you are unsure about why judgements were made about specific courses, consult an RCTC counselor.
NOTE: Transcripts cannot be evaluated until you have applied to RCTC.

International Credit Evaluations - RCTC requires transcripts from outside of the U.S. to be evaluated (and translated when necessary) by an external agency specializing in credential certifications. There are multiple agencies that provide these services; some examples include the following:

http://www.ece.org
http://www.wes.org
http://www.aacrao.org

Credit evaluations must be sent to RCTC as official, unopened copies direct from the agency. Our mailing address is:
