to the Men's Basketball team, its coaches and fans for a great season!!!
Congratulations
to Head Coach Brian LaPlante and Assistant Coaches Chris Fernholz,
Jason Bonde, Steve Schroeder and the entire Yellowjacket Team as they
represented our college very well in the NJCAA DIII National Tourney
over the weekend. Thursday RCTC beat Sullivan (#2 in the nation),
Friday RCTC beat Bergen (they were #1 and undefeated) and Saturday
they came up a little short and eventually lost to Joliet.
RCTC finishes the season as the State (MCAC) Champion, Region (XIII)
Champion and the #2 team in the nation after winning those 2 huge games in the
national tournament. Demetrius Williams was named to the All-Tournament
Team.
RCTC Men's Basketball wins the 2010 MCAC/Region 13 Tournament!!
RCTC men defeated Rainy River 82-72 on Friday 2/26 to advance to the MCAC Semi's. RCTC then defeated Northland CTC 77-73 on 2/27 to advance to the MCAC Championship. On Sunday 2/28 RCTC defeated Minneapolis 85-74 to capture the Region 13/MCAC title. RCTC will advance to the NJCAA National Tournament and will open play on Thursday March 11th at 3pm vs the Region 15 winner in Delhi, NY

The Rochester Community and Technical College Men's Basketball team has traditionally been one of the top teams in the entire state of Minnesota. Coach Brian LaPlante's teams have been 229-106 the last 11 years ('99-'10). The 2000 team was MCCC State Tournament runner-up, the 2001 team was 3rd in the MCCC State Tournament and was 3rd in the 2001 Region 13 Tournament, and the 2002 team was Co-Champions of the Southern Division and finished 5th in the State MCCC Tournament. The 2003 Yellowjackets finished 19-8 and placed 4th in the MCCC State Tournament. .The 2010 team was State and Region Champs and NJCAA National Runner-UP. The 2007 Team finished 21-7 and were MCCC Southern Division Champions. The 2009 team finished 21-9 and 2nd in the MCAC tournament. The Yellowjackets have sent numerous players on to play at the next level ( please look at Where are they now?) and will continue to do so. Our brand new $15 million dollar facility is among the finest in the nation and will allow our student-athletes to play in state of the
art facilities.
