Carolyn Bell

Coach Carolyn Bell, 3rd year RCTC head coach has a passion for volleyball and a need for helping her athletes succeed in sport and in life. Coach Bell’s second season at RCTC was extremely successful with a Minnesota State Tournament 1st place finish and 3rd place finish in the NJCAA Region 13. During the 2008 season, the team was ranked (out of 81 teams nationally) 1st, 2nd and 4th in the NJCAA national polls. To top the season’s success the team had 29 wins and only 5 losses. Coach Bell’s overall record at RCTC is 45 wins and 20 losses. The 2009 and 2010 seasons are promising to be just as successful with a strong recruitment class that has committed to the program for the next two years.

Coach Bell has been coaching for approximately 12 years at a highly competitive level as well. Her most recent experiences have been coaching one of Minnesota’s leading elite junior Olympic programs and she has been a high school head coach as well. She has led several teams to top rankings in the most competitive leagues in Minnesota and has led the Southern Minnesota Volleyball 18-1 team to a top finish at the national level several times. Coach Bell’s passion for volleyball has come from being a player too. She played four years of college volleyball in New York where she earned most valuable player on her college team and was named to several NCAA all tournament and all conference teams. Coach Bell understands the importance of education and this is exemplified by the fact that she earned a Masters degree in counseling psychology and behavior change, and a Masters degree in exercise and sport science with an emphasis in sport psychology and coaching. Her players are taught that education is first, but the commitment to a team experience is what makes them a well-rounded and successful individual.
