RCTC Men's Basketball announces 2007 signees:
April 15, 2007 The RCTC Men's Basketball has announced it's signees thus far the Fall of 2007. Coach Brian LaPlante is very happy with the recruitment of the class and thinks this group of players coupled with the four returners have a great chance to continue the winning ways of the Yellowjackets. RCTC has won 44 of their last 62 games and finished the 2007 season with a 21-7 record and an MCCC Southern Division Title. The coaching staff expects to sign 2-3 more players in the next month: Chet Reilly-6'1-PG-Praire du Chien, WI- Reilly is a two-time All-Conference player who figures to have a chance to take the point guard position left by 2-year starter Sean Clarke. Alex Guillen-6'3-Wing-Caledonia, MN- Guillen a Three Rivers All-Conference selection scored 951 career points. He was named team MVP and was a Winona Daily News -2nd team selection and has been selected to play in the 2007 South Central MN HS All-Star Game. Guillen was coached by former RCTC guard Josh Diersen. Aballa Ojullu-6'4 Wing-Rochester John Marshall- Ojullu was a leader in steals and assists for the Rockets this past season and averaged 6pts per game. His HS Coach Eric Plitzuweit has stated that Ojullu is a very athletic player who was their best perimeter defender. Brad Sand-6'5-Forward-Park of Cottage Grove- Sand was an All-Conference player and was 2nd in the MN BB News statistics for 4A players with just over 12 rebounds per game. Sand was 1st in the East Metro in rebounding. Kurtis Koenig-6'6-Forward-Waconia, MN- Koenig averaged 17pts/8 rebs for the 2AAA champions from Waconia. He was an All-Conference selection and was Honorable mention All-State. Koenig has been chosen to play in the 2007 South Central MN All-Star game. Trevor Larson-6'4 Forward-Chatfield, MN- Larson is a transfer from the University of Minnesota-had 1,201 career points, 2-time All-Conference selection, Team MVP, and a 2006 Academic All-State selection. He led the Gophers to the 2005 State tournament. Nick Perkins-6'6-Forward-Glenwood City, WI- Perkins led the Hilltoppers to a 17-5 season and finished in the semi-finals of their sectional. Perkins averaged 14pts/7 rebs and was named All-Conference. He was also named to the WBCA All-Star Series in June.
