Rogers signs with Missouri Valley College: Rochester Rogers (SO St. Paul, MN) has signed with Missouri Valley College in Marshall, MO. MVC is an NAIA Division 1 program and plays in one of the strongest NAIA conferences in the country. Rogers is a 2-time All-Region and All-MCCC selection for the Yellowjackets. Congratulations to Rochester Rogers!!!
RCTC Men finish 4th in the MCCC State Tourney: The RCTC men defeated Northland 82-73 in the MCCC State Quaterfinals on Friday Feb. 22. In the MCCC Semifinals the Yellowjackets were defeated by Vermillion 73-70-RCTC finished 6-19 from the free throw line to seal their doom. On Sunday Feb. 24th RCTC was defeated by Minneapolis 81-68 in the 3rd place game to end the Yellowjackets season. Rochester Rogers and Kurt Koenig were named to the All-tournament team. The Yellowjackets finish the season 20-8 and this is the 3rd straight 20 win season for the RCTC Men's Basketball program. Rochester Rogers was named All-State, All-Region and All-Division. Trevor Larson and Darrin Loewenhagen were named All-Division.
RCTC Men Finish 2007-08 Regular season 19-6: The RCTC men finish in 2nd place in the MCCC Southern Division with a 9-3 record. The Yellowjackets will face Northland CTC at 1pm on Friday Feb. 22nd at Minneapolis Community and Technical College in the 1st round of the MCCC State Tournament.
RCTC Men #1 Seed for MCCC State Tourney: The RCTC Men will play either Rainy River or Mesabi at 1pm on Friday February 23rd at Minneapolis Community and Technical College in the MCCC Quarterfinals. Other Quarterfinal action will include at 3pm-Central Lakes vs Fergus Falls, at 6pm-Northland vs Mn West or Riverland, and at 8pm-Vermillion vs Minneapolis. Saturday's games will have consolation games at 1 and 3pm and semi-final games at 6 and 8pm. Sunday will have the consolation championship at noon, followed by the 3rd place game at 2pm and the MCCC State championship at 4pm. The top 3 teams from the tournament will advance to the Region 13 tournament on March 2nd and 3rd. The winner of the Region 13 tournament will advance to the NJCAA National Tourney in Delhi, NY on March 15, 16 and 17. RCTC Men Clinch Southern Division Title: The RCTC Men's Basketball team clinched the MCCC Southern Division Title on Saturday in Worthington with a 91-83 victory over MN West. The win coupled with Fergus Fall's victory over Minneapolis on Saturday gave the Yellowjacket men the Division crown. The Yellowjackets 21-4/10-1 in conference and ranked #3 in the Nation will host Minneapolis on Wed. Feb. 14 at 8pm in their regular season finale. RCTC Men Ranked #3 in the Nation: The RCTC Men's Basketball team improved to 17-4 and 6-1 in conference play with a win on Saturday over Ridgewater 88-74. The Yellowjackets are currently ranked #3 in the NJCAA Polls. The Yellowjackets return home this week with games on Wed. Jan. 31 at 8pm and Sat. Feb. 3rd at 3pm.
RCTC Men's Basketball Team finishes 5th in NationThe RCTC Yellowjackets ventured to Delhi, NY for the NJCAA Men's National Basketball tournament last week. On Thursday March 16th the Yellowjackets opened up play against Rockville College of Maryland. The Jackets cruised to a 103-72 victory behind 6 players in double figures led by Freshman Lucas Blood's 20. Joey Kollar, Matt Gangelhoff, Cory Lott, Corey Ryan and Sean Clarke also landed in double figures. The Jackets met North Lakes CC of Irving, Texas on Friday March 17th in the NJCAA Semi-finals. The Yellowjackets fell 78-76 in overtime-the Jackets shot only 8-21 from the free throw line in the crushing loss. Cory Lott paced RCTC with 21points and Joey Kollar added 17. North Lakes ended up winning the Nat'l Championship game on Saturday! On Saturday March 18th, RCTC played in the 3rd Place game vs. Harper College of Illinois. Harper was tremendous all game long and the Jackets could never get over the hump-losing 65-51. Cory Lott again led in scoring with 14 points and Joey Kollar added 13. The loss left RCTC in 5th place with an overall season record of 23-11. Joey Kollar was named to the All-Tournament team. Congrats on a great season and a tremendous showing at the National Tourney!
