RCTC Bookstore will allow students to sell their books back at our store most days during the year (subject to change) using current prices from our National Book Buying Guide. However, at the end of the semester, during finals a book buyer from a used book company will host a cash buyback. The price you are offered for your book is a wholesale price and is bought by the wholesaler.  The wholesaler markets these books all across North America. If the Bookstore buys the book for resale in the store, you will be offered 60% of your original purchase price.  Once the Bookstore has filled its quota, the book will drop in price from 60% to the wholesale price. 

When you are told – “we’re not buying this book” – there are a number of reasons:

• An instructor has NOT yet notified the Bookstore that particular book will be used on campus again.
  
• The Bookstore already has sufficient quantities of the book in stock.
• The wholesaler is overstocked on the title.
• The book has been replaced by an updated edition and has no resale value.
• Study guides and workbooks that are written in are not bought back.
• Condition of the book may be too poor or incomplete to be resold (CD’s, disks, or pages are missing).

No receipt is needed for buyback, but you will need your student ID.
