Rochester Community and Technical College is staffed with professionally trained counselors who are committed to student advocacy and to making the learning experience at RCTC a positive one.  All issues discussed with a counselor are treated confidentially and with respect for privacy. We offer a broad range of services to help students achieve their academic goals, including:

• Academic planning to meet your educational goals
• Advising of non-traditional student group "OASIS"
• Assistance with academic probation appeals and petitioning
• Biofeedback
• Career and lifestyle planning
• Choosing a major
• Crisis and academic intervention
• Information on transfer colleges and universities
• Interest inventories (Strong Interest Inventory, Self-Directed Study), MBTI, and other assessments (PPST, CLEP, ACT, and Wisconsin Placement Test)
• Personal counseling
• Referrals to community resources
• Stress management (PDF)
• Transfer to other colleges

Counselors also teach a variety of credit-based career and personal development classes, including Career and Lifestyle Planning, Stress Management, and a Self-Esteem Seminar.  Other non-credit seminars and workshops on a variety of career and personal development topics are offered at various times.
