Incoming Student Scholarships

The online scholarship application portal will be open for the 2018/2019 academic year from December 26, 2017 through February 16, 2018. **Names, numbers, and amounts of scholarships are subject to change. ABC 6 News Scholarship

The recipient of the ABC 6 News Scholarship will be an incoming or returning student who is a graduate of the Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge Program. The applicant must submit a letter of reference from the organization confirming graduation from the program.
ASHRAE Rochester Section Pre-Engineering Scholarship

Awarded to an incoming or returning student in Pre-Engineering programs (i.e. Engineering, Construction, Information Technology, Biomedical) with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to a C-TECH student in the Engineering pathway.
Barrone/Boynton Scholarship

Awarded to an individual interested in teaching and coaching. Preference given to students from southern Minnesota.
Brittany Bradford Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to an incoming freshman native American student. No GPA requirement. The recipient can be a student majoring in any area of study in either a technical or community college major. Financial need not required but will be considered. Preference given to native Americans. **ESSAY: What does your Native American heritage mean to you?
Builders Exchange of Rochester BUM Scholarship

Awarded to an incoming or returning student pursuing a Building Utilities Mechanic (BUM) degree/diploma at RCTC. 
Calvary Episcopal Church and Community Service Scholarship

The recipient of the Calvary Episcopal Church-Community Service Scholarship will be an incoming or returning student from any field of study who is completing his/her two years of studies at RCTC. The student should possess a minimum 3.0 GPA and exhibit financial need. The recipient will have demonstrated a commitment to community service projects with strong preference given to first or second generation family members.
Champa/Kereakos Scholarship

Awarded to incoming freshmen who participated in high school athletics. Preference is given to students who plan to participate in student life activities at RCTC.
Clarence Crow Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to a student with financial need pursuing degrees or certificates in machine tool trades, carpentry, automobile mechanic, mechanical drafting, civil engineering, Building Utilities Mechanic, or boiler operations. Rochester Public Utilities employees and their children are encouraged to apply for this scholarship.
Commercial Builders Council, a Division of Rochester Area Builders BUM Scholarship

Awarded to an incoming or returning student pursuing a Building Utilities Mechanic (BUM) degree/diploma at RCTC. 
Dalsbo Family Scholarship

Awarded to students pursuing a medical related career who have financial need with a minimum 2.5 GPA or who graduated from high school at least four years ago. Preference will be given to Rochester and surrounding area residents who are currently employed.
Dollerschell Education Scholarship

Awarded to an incoming female student who plans to major in education. Student must have financial need. Student must achieve a minimum 2.8 GPA to access full award.
Don and Stephanie Supalla Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to an incoming or returning student pursuing a diploma or Associates Degree program. The student should have participated in documented measurable community service or volunteer activity. Students must have documented financial need based on information provided to the RCTC Financial Aid Office. A minimum 2.5 GPA is required for returning students. ESSAY REQUIRED on community service or volunteer activity.
Dover-Eyota Scholarship

Awarded to a Dover-Eyota High School senior who will be attending RCTC after graduation.
Dr. Joel Swisher Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to an incoming student who has played football in high school, demonstrates good citizenship, has a good work ethic, and is a team player.
Equine Science Incoming Student Scholarship

Must be an incoming RCTC student who plans to graduate with an Equine Science diploma (Riding and Training) or AS Degree (Equine Science. Student must be enrolled full-time for at least 12 credits. ESSAY REQUIRED: How have you been involved in the horse industry in the last two years (i.e. jobs, volunteering, competing, learning, etc.)?
Eugene & Opal Weis Scholarship

Awarded to incoming students pursuing a degree in the building trades. Must be graduates of Rochester public high schools who possess talent, aptitude and enthusiasm for the building trades. Students must attach letter of recommendation from a high school teacher.
Florence A. Curtis Nursing Scholarship

The recipient will be an incoming student pursuing a A.S. Nursing Degree at RCTC. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA from high school.
Francis and Mary Ruth Baldus Scholarship

Recipient will be an incoming or returning student who is undocumented, has attended a Minnesota high school for at least three (3) years, and graduated from a Minnesota high school or earned a GED in Minnesota. Males ages 18-25 must be registered with the U.S. Selective Service to receive the scholarship.
Frank Jaszewski Scholarship

Awarded to a Fillmore-Central High School graduating senior that has been active in athletics or other extra-curricular activities and will be attending RCTC.
Franklin H. Sim Scholarship

Any incoming or returning student enrolled in the allied health medical field (i.e. sports medicine, physical therapy, athletic training, nursing) who has a minimum 3.5 GPA and participates in RCTC Athletics or Student Life as a player or as a volunteer.
Hoffman Scholarship

Awarded to an incoming student who plans to attend a four-year college or university following graduation from RCTC. Student should be pursuing a major in one of the 'hard sciences', such as math, science, or engineering. Student must qualify for financial aid and possess a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Hoffman Technical Scholarship

Awarded to an incoming student who is pursuing a two-year degree majoring in a technical or trade field. Student must qualify for financial aid and possess a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Holmquist, Nolte, Reed Scholarship

Awarded to an incoming or returning student from Stewartville High School area majoring in education with plans to coach athletics.
Iris Fried Student Support Services Scholarship

Awarded to an active participant in the Student Support Services/TRiO Program, who has a completed fall and spring ISP on file, enrolled in and attended at least 9 credits the previous Fall semester, and has a minimum 2.5 GPA. **ESSAY REQUIRED (500 WORD MINIMUM): "How Student Support Services has impacted your future life plans"
Jimmy Joe McDermott Scholarship

Awarded to incoming freshmen from southeastern Minnesota who participated in high school activities or athletics and plan to continue in student life activities at RCTC. Students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
John and Sandra MacLaughlin MN Dream Scholarship

The recipient must be an undocumented citizen is planning to or is currently attending RCTC. The GPA requirement is 2.5 minimum. The funds are to pay for tuition, books, and college fees. The recipient does not have to maintain full-time status.
John and Sandra MacLaughlin Practical Nursing Scholarship

Awarded to a student who is enrolled in Licensed Practical Nursing prerequisite classes or in the RCTC Licensed Practical Nursing program. Preference will be given to a student who (1) attends or has graduated from Hawthorne Education Center; or (2) is a former Head Start student; or (3) is a current or former Head Start parent. If the selected recipient does not continue into a second semester, another applicant meeting the criteria will be selected. The recipient can be a full-time or part-time student
John, Adolph, and Pauline Peterson Horticulture Scholarship

Awarded to incoming or returning students with a minimum 2.0 GPA. Preference will be given to students coming from families who have worked in horticulture, agriculture, or related fields who are pursuing an A.A.S. degree, planning a career in greenhouse management or a horticulture specialty. Recipient must commit to providing 10 hours of volunteer service each semester to a worthy organization such as Chester Woods Park, Seasons Hospice, the Salvation Army, or American/MN Chapter Red Cross, doing fall clean-up, spring planting, etc.
Kathleen Stoltenberg Scholarship

Awarded to RCTC students who were born and raised in Olmsted, Fillmore, Mower or Goodhue County.
Kenneth McGhie Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to an incoming student majoring in Engineering Technology or Engineering.
Kereakos Family Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to an entering freshman who is an immigrant, spouse or child of an immigrant, or a first generation American citizen. Student must exhibit good academic standing. If the student achieves a 2.8 GPA or better, he/she will be eligible to receive the scholarship for a second year.
Kerry Nolte Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to an incoming or returning student in any field of study who is dealing with mental illness or has a family member who is dealing with mental illness. ESSAY REQUIRED: Describe your experience with mental illness using personal insights to battling the disorder for yourself or in your family environment.
Kiwanis of Rochester Les Fiegel/Charles Hill Scholarship

Awarded to an incoming or returning student in any field of study who demonstrates financial need and has a minimum 2.5 GPA. The award may be renewable at the discretion of the RCTC Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee, provided the recipient still meets the criteria.
Lent Family Scholarship

Awarded to an incoming or returning student pursuing an A.S. Nursing Degree or a Law Enforcement Degree and have financial need with a minimum 2.5 GPA. The award will alternate between Nursing (odd years) and Law Enforcement (even years). Preference will be given to Rochester area residents who are currently employed. The award must be used towards college tuition, books, and fees.
Lois Hackbarth Scholarship

Awarded to a student with financial need, who does not qualify for financial aid. Recipient must be a single parent or person who is a community volunteer or victim advocate. Preference given to students entering community service oriented careers.
Meirick Scholarship

Awarded to an Iowa student who will attend RCTC and who participated in high school wrestling.
Minnesota Society of Professional Engineers Scholarship

Awarded to an incoming student enrolling in Engineering Technology or Pre-Engineering.
Neil Anderson Scholarship

Awarded to any RCTC student who is planning to pursue a four-year degree. The recipient must have a minimum 3.0 GPA from high school or at RCTC and demonstrate financial need and academic merit. Any field of study is eligible. The award is renewable at the discretion of the RCTC Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee. The student must be full-time (in an academic program)with a minimum of 6 credits that will transition to a specific Bachelor's Degree or must meet the average credits taken by students attending RCTC.
Neva and Rachel Kuehn Scholarship

The recipient will be a deserving student with financial need enrolled in the RCTC Nursing program. Preference is given to LPN students.
Nick Angel Scholarship

Awarded to incoming or returning students in any field of study who demonstrate financial need.
Olmsted Medical Center Scholarship

Awarded to a student with a minimum 2.0 GPA with warnings or suspension, studying in a medical related program at RCTC.
Otto Haling Scholarship

Applicants must be enrolled in the Auto Mechanics or Welding. Award based on financial need, GPA, and participation in community or school activities.
Paul and Kim (Hoffmann) Novotny Scholarship

Awarded to an incoming freshman from Chatfield High School with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Applicant must have participated in high school activities.
People's Energy Cooperative Scholarship

Awarded to an incoming or returning student who is a customer of Peoples Cooperative Services or their family is a customer. Preference is given to a student majoring in agriculture or related field and planning to continue at a four-year college or university.
Peterson/Steffen Scholarship

Awarded to an incoming student majoring in accounting. The recipient will demonstrate academic competence, integrity and participated in extra-curricular activities or community involvement.
Presidential Scholarship

Presidential Scholarships are for current high school seniors and are awarded to Minnesota residents with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.9 and/or class rank in the top five percent (5%) of their graduating class. Preference is given to students demonstrating leadership and community involvement. The scholarship recipient will be guaranteed a waiver for all tuition and fees for fall and spring semesters, free use of required textbooks and early registration privileges. Achieving a 3.3 GPA while attending RCTC is required for continued funding for a second year.
Puetz Scholarship for Plainview Students Scholarship

(Application available at Plainview-Elgin-Millville H.S) To be awarded to a PEM senior who participated in athletics and will be attending RCTC after graduation. - Selection process is completed by the school.
RCTC Foundation Scholarship

The recipient must have participated in documented (verifiable) measurable community service activities or participated in volunteer activities at their high school or at RCTC and have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
Regional Endowment Scholarship

Awarded to students whose high school participated in the regional endowment funding process. They include: Byron, Century, John Marshall, Kasson-Mantorville, Mayo, Pine Island, Stewartville, Triton, Zumbrota-Mazeppa.
Renee and Bill Brunner Scholarship

Awarded to an incoming or returning student, from southeastern Minnesota who was involved in high school activities such as athletics, student clubs, band, choir, and/or theater. Recipient must carry a minimum of 12 credits and major in business or a computer-related field.
Ronni Eppen Memorial Scholarship

The recipient will be an incoming student to RCTC pursuing a two-year degree in one of the following technical trade programs: Accounting Clerk, Administrative Assistant, Administrative Clinic Assistant, Automobile Mechanic, Building Utilities Mechanic, CAD, Carpentry, Child Development, Child, Youth, and Family Studies, Clinical Neurophysiology Technology, Clinical Research Coordination, Coding Specialist, Customer Service, Administrative Specialist, Dental Assistant, Dental Hygiene, Emergency Medical Technician, Emergency Medicine Paramedic, Equine Science, Group Fitness Instructor, Health Unit Coordinator, Healthcare Informatics, Histology Technician, Horticulture, Human Services Specialist, Human Services Technician, Law Enforcement, Medical Administrative Assistant, Nursing, Personal Trainer, Practical Nursing, Precision Manufacturing Technology, Sport Facility Management, Surgical Technology, and Veterinary Technician.
Shades of Green Hosta Society of Southeast MN Scholarship

Awarded to a incoming student committed to the Horticulture program with a minimum 2.75 GPA. The student is required to attend a Shades of Green Hosta (SOGH) Society meeting.
Society of Manufacturing Engineers Canfield Scholarship (CAD)

Awarded to a student who intends to pursue a diploma or degree in Computer Aided Drafting (CAD). The recipient will be an incoming or returning RCTC student with a minimum 2.0 G.P.A. Preference will be given to a student who has completed the C-TECH manufacturing pathway and plans to attend RCTC. The scholarship can be used for tuition, books and fees. An essay describing the student's career plans after graduation must be attached to the application.
Society of Manufacturing Engineers Canfield Scholarship (PMT)

Awarded to a student who intends to pursue a diploma in Precision Manufacturing Technology (PMT). The recipient will be an incoming or returning RCTC student with a minimum 2.0 G.P.A. Preference will be given to a student who has completed the C-TECH manufacturing pathway and plans to attend RCTC. The scholarship can be used for tuition, books and fees. An essay describing the student's career plans after graduation must be attached to the application.
Steve Bakke Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to an incoming or returning student attending RCTC who is pursuing a career in computer science and/or engineering. The student must be a graduate of a Minnesota high school with a demonstrated mathematical academic background or interest, demonstrated financial need and a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Steve Engelbert Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to a high school graduate with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Student must be from Olmsted, Wabasha, Goodhue, Dodge, Mower, Fillmore or Winona County. Preference is given to a student with financial need.
Tim Muellner Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to an incoming freshman from Olmsted, Fillmore, Todd or Stearns county. The recipient will have been actively involved in school activities during high school and intends to be involved at RCTC. Preference will be given to students with financial need and can demonstrate participation in the funding their own education - working.
Upward Bound/TRIO Scholarship

Awarded to a senior in the RCTC Upward Bound/TRIO Program, who has been an active participant, including volunteering and leadership activities, and has a cumulative 2.5 GPA. **ESSAY (350 WORD MINIMUM): "What did Upward Bound/TRIO mean to me?"
Vicki, Kent, Todd Brunner Scholarship

Awarded to a student, incoming or returning, from southeastern Minnesota who was involved in high school activities such as athletics, band, choir, and theatre. Recipient must carry a minimum 12 credits and major in business, computer science, allied health, nursing, or pre-medicine.
Walter Swenberg Memorial Scholarship

Eligible students will be enrolled in the Pre-Mechanical Engineering or the Engineering Technology program. Students must qualify for financial aid. If the recipient's complete their first year of study and maintain above average academic standing, they will be eligible for a second year of funding: a new application must be submitted to be reconsidered.
Willard and Lorraine Johnson Fund for Excellence in Fine Arts Education Scholarship

Awarded to an incoming or returning student pursuing a career in the Fine Arts with a minimum 2.0 GPA. Student may be full or part-time.
Woodwind Scholarship

The recipient will be an incoming or returning student currently taking private (applied) lessons in music. Preference will be given to a student who wants to pursue a lifelong experience in music but any applied (major) student is eligible provided they have a 2.5 GPA. Students may be full or part-time status.
