The RCTC Relicensure Committee is established according to Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board Policy 3.9, (http://www.MnSCU.edu/Policies/PolicyIndex.html) and MnSCU Licensure Guidelines, Section V. Committee Review.
The responsibilities of a professional educator are varied, with one aspect of it being professional development. Continuing education is intended as a means for increasing or enhancing the capabilities of the professional educator in performing responsibilities specific to the assigned field. The major responsibilities for professional growth lies with the individual who must demonstrate professional commitment to teaching by being a discriminating appraiser of his/her own growth needs.
Purpose for Continuing Education
To provide public assurance that licensed individuals maintain currency in the subject matter taught, the art and science of teaching, and are cognizant of critical post-secondary educational issues.
Role of the Relicensure Committee
To recommend renewal of five-year license(s) to MnSCU system administration, based on the licensee completing continuing education requirements, which have been pre-approved by the local Relicensure Committee.
