Best Bee Award

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Sandy Aaby for being nominated and selected as RCTC’s November 2014 Best Bee.  Sandy has worked at RCTC since 1994 serving as a Library Technician in Goddard Library.

Explain:  Sandy Aaby is a vital, team player at Goddard Library and deserves much recognition beyond her years of service at RCTC. One of her greatest assets is her ability to develop meaningful relationships with others and lead by example. Many student employees, (comments below) have enjoyed working with her at Goddard Library.

Innovation: Sandy is always willing to brainstorm new ideas for solving routine challenges. She frequently collaborates with colleagues in producing complex, diverse, ID cards and badges for varied situations and people. She also co-manages the training process for duplicating the high volume of ID cards that are produced each semester.

Excellence:  As a perfectionist, Sandy has high expectations of herself and her profession.  She modestly demonstrates a positive attitude about her achievements and takes pride in producing high quality results.

Fun:  Sandy's positive outlook cultivates an atmosphere of enjoyment. She often takes extra time to make others feel individually appreciated and understood.  Goddard Library would not be the same without our students and staff celebrations!

Learner-Centered:  Sandy is an active participant in portraying Goddard Library as a learned-centered facility. She processes faculty course reserve requests and strives to maintain an academic, collegial, environment for every person utilizing Goddard Library.

Respect:  Sandy is professional, respectful and genuinely cares about others. She is also respected by many people.

Teamwork:  Sandy is frequently involved on many campus wide committees and projects.  She is always willing to offer her time, energy and ideas for the betterment of others.

As Best Bee for the month, Sandy will receive the employee of the month parking space, a framed certificate of recognition, and be treated to lunch with the President.  Please join us in congratulating Sandy!

 

NOMINATE SOMEONE TODAY!

Are your colleagues or co-workers demonstrating extra effort, exemplary service, or demonstrated expertise in your department or on a committee? Are they working on a special project for their job/department/college or in the community? If so, please consider nominating them for "Best Bee of the Month."

RECOGNITIONS:

The Employee Relations Committee (ERC) has implemented a process to recognize and reward employees for outstanding job performances. Recognitions can be awarded:

  1. Work Team Recognition. Recognition would include committee work, community service work, and department achievements and could also highlight something new the group has done or is working on. Work Teams who receive this award will be recognized through publicizing the award in the Crossings, on a "recognition" web site, possibly on our digital wall, their very own "pizza party" and gifts.
  2. Individual Recognition. This is a modified reinstatement of the "Bee Award" started by Bonnie Mercer. Recognition would include committee work, community service work, and individual achievements, extra effort, exemplary service or demonstrated expertise in their field. Individuals who receive this award will be recognized through publicizing the award in the Crossings, on the "recognition" web site, possibly on our digital wall, and gifts.
  3. Write Personal Notes. All employees are encouraged to write notes of recognition and appreciation to their colleagues and co-workers. This is a simple gesture which has a positive effect on the sender and receiver.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES:

  • Anyone can nominate an employee or work team. The nomination remains active indefinitely.
  • The nomination form should include a narrative of why the nominee(s) merit being named Employee/Work Team {Best Bee(s)} of the Month based on criteria the nominator feels is relevant.
  • The nominee(s) may be any employee of Rochester Community and Technical College.
  • Nominations received by the 15th of the month are eligible for consideration of the following month's award.
