Congratulations!

Congratulations to Leonard Cronin for being nominated and selected as RCTC’s November’s Best Bee. Leonard has worked at RCTC as an Instructor of Accounting since 1982.

Explain: Leonard exemplifies the RCTC values on a daily basis. Leonard can be found regularly assisting students beyond the necessary office hours required. He is patient in explaining knowledge and listens with an attentive ear. He has spent many hours assisting his colleagues with technology issues in a kind, understanding, and supporting manner. He has shown great empathy in assisting new faculty be successful through sharing resources, providing advice, and patient listening. He is a vital team member who willing to share institutional knowledge, expertise, and innovative thoughts. The Business division is lucky to have him.

Here is how Leonard exemplifies the RCTC values:

Innovation: Leonard pushes the institutions technology finding D2L strategies and applications that assist student learning and classroom management and then shares this information with colleagues. He has been in the forefront in integrating publisher web supplements into all delivery modes of accounting classes. A member of the Academic Technology Committee (ATC) he has been at the forefront of innovation on campus.

Excellence: Leonard has high standards for students and puts his deliberate energy into creating successful learning environments. His students have high success rates when transferring to upper division classes.

Fun: Leonard is always quick with a friendly smile and insightful humor. Ask him how he dresses for Halloween as an accountant. It’s hilarious!

Learner-Centered: Leonard is constantly keeping individual notes on each student to evaluate their strength and weakness in order to develop strategies that help them be successful. He believes every student can be successful!

Respect: Leonard is constantly keeping individual notes on each student to evaluate their strength and weakness in order to develop strategies that help them be successful. He believes every student can be successful!

Teamwork: Leonard is an active participant in division teams working to solve problems in an inclusive manner with patient listening and strategic thinking.

Congratulations Leonard! As Best Bee for the Month of November, Leonard is being recognized with a certificate and the employee of the month parking space.

 

NOMINATE SOMEONE TODAY!

Are your colleagues or co-workers demonstrating extra effort, exemplary service, or demonstrated expertise in your department or on a committee? Are they working on a special project for their job/department/college or in the community? If so, please consider nominating them for "Best Bee of the Month."

RECOGNITIONS:

The Employee Relations Committee (ERC) has implemented a process to recognize and reward employees for outstanding job performances. Recognitions can be awarded:

  1. Work Team Recognition. Recognition would include committee work, community service work, and department achievements and could also highlight something new the group has done or is working on. Work Teams who receive this award will be recognized through publicizing the award in the Crossings, on a "recognition" web site, possibly on our digital wall, their very own "pizza party" and gifts.
  2. Individual Recognition. This is a modified reinstatement of the "Bee Award" started by Bonnie Mercer. Recognition would include committee work, community service work, and individual achievements, extra effort, exemplary service or demonstrated expertise in their field. Individuals who receive this award will be recognized through publicizing the award in the Crossings, on the "recognition" web site, possibly on our digital wall, and gifts.
  3. Write Personal Notes. All employees are encouraged to write notes of recognition and appreciation to their colleagues and co-workers. This is a simple gesture which has a positive effect on the sender and receiver.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES:

  • Anyone can nominate an employee or work team. The nomination remains active indefinitely.
  • The nomination form should include a narrative of why the nominee(s) merit being named Employee/Work Team {Best Bee(s)} of the Month based on criteria the nominator feels is relevant.
  • The nominee(s) may be any employee of Rochester Community and Technical College.
  • Nominations received by the 15th of the month are eligible for consideration of the following month's award.
