Tips for Academic Success

- Try to log in to your class each day, even if it is for a short
time. Check message boards, class news and calendar of due dates.
- Be familiar with course requirements. Read the SYLLABUS.
- Frequently check the calendar for all test and assignment due dates.
- Keep up with reading assignments. Don't wait until the night before
a test or due date to begin your reading.
- Get to know at least one other person in each of your classes. They
can be a valuable resource to help you understand an assignment or
clarify a point made by an instructor.
- Set aside a definite time for studying and logging on to your each
day. This discourages procrastination and prevents work pileup.
- Don't cram for hours the night before a test or start a paper the
night before it is due; instead, distribute your studying in hour
segments over several days.
- Keep up-to-date with course work. Semesters gradually get busier
and busier, reaching a peak at final exam time.

Most instructors are willing to help you any way they can as long as
you show a willingness to do your part. Here are a few things to remember:
- Don't be afraid to talk to your professors via e-mail or phone
- Ask for help and assistance on specific areas of study. Remember,
teachers enjoy helping you learn.
- If the professor has office hours set up, please use them to the
fullest.
