ACADEMIC PROGRAM REVIEW

Part 1. Academic Program/Department Review: Rochester Community and Technical College shall review all programs/departments on a three year cycle. Reviews shall be conducted by faculty and program leaders/division chairs in the respective areas. In September of each academic year, the Office of the Vice President for Teaching and Learning will publish an updated list of the three-year cycle showing the programs/disciplines to be reviewed. Program review reports are due to the Vice President by the 15th of the designated month and year.
The Office of the Vice President of Teaching and Learning/CAO shall provide detailed direction regarding the content and format of the required Program/Department Reviews, and executive summaries of completed reviews may, at the discretion of the Chair of AASC, be presented to AASC for discussion/consultation.
Part 2. Elements of Academic Program/Department
Review.
Subpart 1. All Academic Program/Department reviews
shall address (a) contribution to the mission and plans of the College,
(b) performance measures including aggregated student achievement,
(c) accreditation licensure or certification requirements, when appropriate,
(d) advisory committee or other appropriate input as agreed to by
the faculty and administration, in accordance with Board Policy 3.10
Academic Program Review.
Subpart 2. Program reviews will consider but not
be limited to the following: (a) student enrollment, faculty FTE,
graduation and transfer or placement rates, student satisfaction,
and other data which demonstrate program effectiveness; (b) analysis
of program cost; (c) review of the course and program curricula; (d)
review of any existing articulation agreements; (e) comparison of
the program with similar programs elsewhere in the state; and (f)
the recommendations of faculty teaching in the program, advisory boards,
and/or accreditation review teams.
Subpart 3. Advisory committees are essential to the
development, operation, and evaluation of occupational programs. Each
occupational program will establish an advisory committee consisting
of professionals in the field, potential employers for graduates,
students and/or alumni of the program, and other community members.
The Office of Academic Affairs will maintain current lists of all
advisory committees.
