Part 1. Establishment: The College shall provide a student health service program to promote personal and academic success through concern for students physical and emotional well-being.
Part 2. Fees: The Student Health Service shall be funded by a mandatory dedicated fee assessed to students at the time of tuition and fee payment. The fee shall be identified separately on the student fee statement. In addition, there may be a cost recovery fee for certain services, supplies or lab charges.
Part 3. Services: The Student Health Service offers emergency first aid and medical care to students at Rochester Community and Technical College. Other services include, but are not limited to, evaluation of student illness/injury, physical exams, medical referrals, mental health referrals, mantoux (TB) skin tests, throat cultures, urine testing for infection, blood pressure checks, pregnancy tests, birth control information, health counseling/education, nutrition/weight-control information, smoking cessation programs, non-prescription medications, immunization information, rest facilities and student health insurance information.
Part 4. Confidentiality: The Student Health Service shall process, verify, and keep on file all immunization records as mandated by state law. Immunization records will be kept on file for one year from the date they are received. All information contained in a student health record is considered confidential. No information shall be released from a student record without the student’s written consent.
Part 5. Professional Staff: A registered nurse shall be available for six hours per school day during the academic year. A doctor is on campus at least two hours per week by appointment.
