What software does a student use in the various courses?
A variety of software is used in the courses. It is expected that the student is familiar with an operating system along with a word processing, and spreadsheet programs. Microsoft programs of Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint are used in various courses. Additionally an educational accounting program and commercially available Peachtree and Turbo Tax are used.
How available is the software to the student?
All the software needed for the program are on the colleges network and thus available on any computer on campus. Courses where you are learning the software are scheduled in a computer lab and the student has access to a computer with the software. After class computers in the Library and labs with no class in them can be used.
If you have a personal computer the Microsoft and accounting software can be loaded on your computer. Through an agreement with Microsoft students enrolled during the 2001-02 school year can get a current copy of Microsoft Office programs for $4.95, the cost of preparing the disk. Other Microsoft software can be checked out of the library for no cost to load on your personal computer. This agreement needs to be renewed each June for the next school year. Check with the college that it is being renewed for the next school year.
The two accounting programs used in courses come with the textbook for loading on your personal computer. The only software that is not available for your personal computer is the tax software. But is available on the colleges network and all of its computers.
