Accounting Career Overview:
RCTC offers three program options for students interested in accounting. These include technical programs and a transfer program. The technical programs are for a student who is looking for intensive short-term training for immediate employment. The technical programs are not designed for purposes of transfer; however, some courses may transfer. The programs range from 32 semester credits to 64 semester credits.
RCTC’s Associate in Science Accounting degree is designed for transfer. This degree is for the accounting student interested in pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or beyond.
A graduate from RCTC’s Accounting Clerk diploma is prepared for careers that require calculating, journaling, posting, and verifying accounting records. Additional duties can also include preparing bank reconciliation statements and processing payroll, vouchers, and invoices.
A graduate from RCTC’s Accountant Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree is well prepared to examine, analyze and interpret accounting data for the purpose of preparing financial statements and giving related advice.
RCTC graduates with an Associate in Science (A.S.) or transfer degree are prepared for an entry-level accounting position and can transfer to complete a bachelor’s degree. A bachelor’s degree can help prepare the individual to earn the designation of CPA or CMA. Visit us at http://www.rctc.edu/program/acct/.
