IMPORTANT NOTE:
Thank you for your interest in the Dental Assistant Program at RCTC. Dental Assistant applications are accepted beginning September 1st each year until the program is filled.

Admission is based on the date that all supporting documentation is received in the Admissions and Records Office.

 

PRE-ADMISSION CRITERIA:

1. Diploma from high school/GED.

2. Earned a "C" letter grade or better in high school Biology or college
     Biology (BIOL 1101 or its transfer equivalent).

3. Apply to RCTC and indicate Dental Assisting as a major.

4. Strong Recommendation:

• Students should achieve an ASAP Reading Score of 26 or better to enter Dental Assisting.
• Students achieving an ASAP Reading Score of 25 or less should successfully complete ENGL 0840   Developmental Reading prior to enrolling in Dental Assisting.
• Students achieving an ASAP Reading Score near or less than 26 are strongly advised to take the Dental Assisting Program in the two year, part-time option.

5. Apply to the Dental Assisting program:

READ CAREFULLY:
All applicants must have earned a high school diploma or GED and have completed Biology with a grade of “C” or better at the high school or college level prior to admission to the Dental Assistant program. Furthermore, RCTC strongly recommends that applicants should achieve a minimum Reading score of 26 on the college’s ASAP test. Students scoring less than 26 are encouraged to successfully complete Developmental Reading (ENGL 0840) prior to taking any Dental Assisting courses. Students scoring below 26 are also encouraged to follow the two-year, part-time Dental Assistant option.
