Spring 2008 Semester is underway!

Mark your calendar- our next 'End-of-the-Semester' Horse Show is scheduled for:

Friday, May 9th, 2008 from 1-5pm at the Stables Equestrian Center. Everyone welcome!

The Equine Science program at RCTC started as a full time program in Fall 2005. There has been lots of enthusiasm and interest in the program so far. It continues to grow and expand each semester.

Location:

RCTC’s campus is in southeast Rochester. The Equine Science department, classrooms, and the faculty offices are located in the Heintz center. Several of the classes are held at The Stables Equestrian Center, about a 10 minute drive northeast of campus. The Stables equestrian center is owned and operated by Eliese Klennert-Nelson. The RCTC Equine Science program leases the brand new arena, stable and the school horses from Eliese.

Our horses

We have a wide range of school horses for students to use in their handling and riding classes. Currently, there are arabs, paints, quarter horses, and thoroughbreds. They range in age and in training level. Instructors assign horses to students based on their skill and confidence levels. Students often ride a different horse every class.


Future location:

The Rochester Regional Equestrian Center (RREC) is working on plans for a brand new equestrian center.

“The goal of the RREC is to provide the space for Equine Science (RCTC), education (any group or individual wanting to sponsor/give a clinic) and recreation (horse shows or money generating events). This all promotes the equine industry and gives Rochester an excellent opportunity to encourage new and old riders to explore exciting new venues with their on horse or in classes with school horses”.
