The program will include some first-hand experiences for students, including small research projects and discussions of contemporary environmental issues in the Environmental Science Internship, field activities, and the use of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Global Positioning System (GPS) technology. Coordination for student experiences has been discussed with various groups, including Quarry Hill Nature Center, the City of Rochester, and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, among others. In the internship, students will plan and develop an internship project in an area of interest with a local or regional group or organization.
