Looking for an exciting career opportunity?
Health Information Technician (HIT) graduates are in high demand across the United States. As an HIT, you will become an essential member of the health information management profession. As a specialist in health information, your position may include analyzing, securing, and maintaining patient health information. You may also choose to specialize in areas such as quality assurance, computer information services, tumor registries, or release of medical information. Some technicians are responsible for coding diagnoses and procedures for reimbursement; others concentrate in areas that monitor compliance of patient data privacy rights and other ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements.
As a Health Information Technician, you may seek employment opportunities in a variety of organizations and agencies including hospitals, clinics, insurance companies, consulting firms, law firms, long-term care facilities such as nursing homes and rehabilitation centers, HMOs, and information systems vendors, just to mention a few.
You can be a part of an innovative, progressive program. The RCTC Health Information Technology program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). Verification of program accreditation can be viewed at: http://www.cahiim.org/directoryofaccredpgms/programdirectory.aspx
This accreditation is very important for it makes you, as a successful graduate of our program, eligible to take the national examination sponsored by AHIMA and to earn the prestigious Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) credential.
Yes, you can receive your two-year AAS degree via Internet delivery, and our program also fits into your work and family schedule. It is a nontraditional, predominately online program.
