Name: Pagoda Dogwood (Cornus alternifolia)

Campus Location: West side of Heintz Center

This Minnesota native understory tree is a small tree or large shrub depending on how you prune it. The tree has an interesting tiered branching pattern, hence the name "Pagoda" dogwood. Pagoda dogwood produces pale yellow, fragrant flowers in May and blue-black fruit in late summer. This 15 to 20 foot tree has a beautiful maroon-red fall color.
