Swiss Stone Pine

Name: Swiss Stone Pine (Pinus cembra)

Campus Location: Heintz Center SMART Garden

The Swiss Stone Pine is a very handsome pine with densely packed needles and branches. It might reach 25 feet after 25 to 30 years of growth. The tree requires a well drained, loamy soil located in full sun. The 2-3 inch long needles are borne in bundles of 5 and remain on the tree for 4-5 years. Beautiful conical shape and good green color make this pine an excellent specimen tree for the landscape.
