Studio A is a state-of-the-art music production studio taking various music technology courses. The studio houses a computer-based multi-track recording system and MIDI sequencing. The studio is connected to five sound-cubes, and drum recording room, and to CC-113 for the recording of various instruments. The studio is a 5.1 Dolby surround-sound suite incorporating contemporary technology for the creation of original music compositions which are mastered on both CD’s and DVD’s.

Studio A is used by students taking both audio production and electronic music composition courses. The lab is connected to seven remote recording spaces including five sound isolation booths, a drum recording booth, and one large recording room equipped with a 9' Steinway Grand. The studio is a 5.1 surround production space as well.

CD and DVD projects are created by students using state-of-the-art facilities. The room is equipped with a 24 x 8 Mackie Mixing Board with JP Cooper MIDI control surface mixer. The AD/DA converters are MOTU’s 24i and 2408 which allows the possibility of 32 input channels mixed down to Dolby 5.1.

A Macintosh G5 Quad with 5GB Ram is the central recording focus equipped with MOTU’s Digital Performer for both MIDI and audio editing and creation. The computer controls all audio input with an automated control surface and is connected to multiple hardware and software synthesizers.
Both hardware and software processors are incorporated featuring the WAVES Diamond series as well as multiple outboard devices (see equipment list).
