IMPORTANT NOTE:
The
associate degree nurse is prepared to practice nursing in situations
involving direct patient care, most frequently in the hospital
or long-term care facility.

After successful completion of this program, which includes classes at RCTC and care of patients in the Mayo Clinic Hospitals in addition to area nursing homes and selected community agencies, graduates are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination - Registered Nurse.
Career Opportunities
Many employment opportunities are available locally, state-wide,
and nationally for Registered Nurses in hospitals, clinics, and
nursing home facilities. There is currently a shortage of
qualified registered nurses.
Educational
opportunities for completion of a bachelor's degree in Nursing
are available through an articulated agreement with Winona
State University. WSU also provides
Master's preparation in Nursing. Both of these options are
available at the University Center Rochester campus. Other
higher education completion programs in Nursing are available
locally.
