The month of November presents the perfect time to quit your nicotine habit. “D’Day”, first started in Minnesota in the 1970’s and now called The Great American Smoke Out, is sponsored by the American Cancer Society. The Great American Smoke-Out is always the Thursday before Thanksgiving and is a day that many smokers try to cease use of nicotine for 24 hours.
Smokers can gain significant benefits as soon as they quit. According to the American Lung Association:

Free Quit Kits
10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Quit kits contain smoking cessation resources and a distractions to help you get started on the journey to becoming a non-smoker. Provided by RCTC Student Health Services
Acupuncture
9 a.m - 1 p.m.

Acupuncture can help ease the effects of nicotine withdrawal, help reduce stress, cravings, and increase emotional and physical well-being. Acupuncture will be provided on a drop-in basis and may take 30 – 60 minutes. It is done seated in a group setting. Donation of $5 suggested for acupuncture. Written materials are also provided in support of the Great American Smoke-Out. Provided by Licensed Acupuncturist Deah Kinion, L. Ac. from the Lilac Wellness Center.
