RCTC Student Printing

RCTC implemented student print accounting Spring Semester 2011 to promote Green conservation, help control rising printing costs, and aid in keeping student technology fees down.  The following information on this page represents RCTC’s student printing guidelines.

RCTC students will receive 500 sheets/credits of paper into their print accounts at the start of each semester which can be used for either single sided or double sided (duplex) black laser printing.

Currently the Library Technology Center (LTC), located on the third floor of the library, and the UCR Learning Center (AT 306), support duplex printing.  We are continually expanding duplex printing services throughout campus and will keep this section updated with changes.

Each student that logs on to a campus computer will be able to track and purchase additional sheets/credits of paper through the print management account icon on the computer desktop.

FAQs

When will the printing allotment be loaded?
One week prior to the start date of each semester.

If I don't use my allotment balance of 500 sheets/credits each semester, can I get a refund or will the balance be added to next semester's balance?
No. At the beginning of each semester, the allotment starts over. Each student's account is reset to 500 sheets/credits of paper.

If there is a printer jam, will I still be charged for prints?
Yes. When considering the appropriate allotment we factored in at least 50 sheets/credits for such incidents.

How will I be charged for duplex printing?
Duplex printing (printing on both sides of a single sheet of paper) is counted as one sheet/crerdit.

What is the charge for color printing?
Color prints will count as 5 sheets/credits or .30 cents against your print account.

What should I do if I print for school related clubs or for RCTC work-study purposes? Will my print account be charged?
Yes, if you print for school related clubs or for RCTC work-study purposes your print account will be charged. Students will need to work with either their advisor or student worker supervisor to contact the Technology Support Center (TSC), tech.help@rctc.edu, to request your print account to be credited back the number of sheets/credits you printed for student worker or club related activities.

Will I be able to print a document that has more sheets than what I have left on my balance?
No. The document will not be printed at all if you do not have the sufficient number of sheets/credits left on your balance.

How do I check my balance and purchase additional sheets/credits of paper?
Each student that logs on to a campus computer will be able to track and purchase additional sheets of paper through the print management account icon on the computer desktop.

What if I have problems with my print account or purchasing additional sheets/credits of paper?
Please contact the Technology Support Center (TSC), located off of the main campus atrium entrance, room GL100.

Can I print more than 500 pages?
Yes. However, you will have to purchase additional sheets/credits at a cost of six cents per page in increments of 100 sheets. For example, six dollars will purchase an additional 100 sheets/credits.

How are purchased sheets/credits handled?
Purchased sheets/credits will be carried over from semester to semester for returning students. Graduating students that still have purchased sheets/credits in their accounts and will not be returning the following semester need to contact the TSC within 30 days to arrange a refund.

Can I share my printing account with another student?
No. You cannot share your printing account or transfer money to a different persons account.
