Tutoring Sessions, one of the main components of Upward Bound during the academic year, are held weekly at three Rochester high schools, and Rochester Community and Technical College. Attendance for two hours of tutoring session a week is required for all students. Please refer to Upward Bound academic calendar for specific tutoring dates.

Tutoring sessions are to be used for completing homework assignments, studying for tests and other school-related work. Tutors will be present at each tutoring session to assist with homework. Students are expected to come prepared with homework and questions so that they may utilize the tutoring hours effectively. Also, this is a time for students to discuss concerns or questions with Upward Bound staff. Upward Bound staff members attend tutoring to monitor the session, answer students' questions, and meet with students, counselors and teachers.

Every week a student from each high school will be selected by Upward Bound staff members as "Student of the Week." The criteria is based on his/her extra effort to study and/or outstanding performance during tutoring sessions that week. Student of the Week will be recognized during tutoring sessions.
