To ensure your success, RCTC requires assessment and advising prior to registering for courses. The assessment and advising session typically requires college level placement. The assessment test is a test of Reading and Mathematics that RCTC uses to determine your skill levels so that we can properly advise you in selecting courses. Because you are in the PSEO Program, your assessment testing results determine your eligibility for taking courses at RCTC. Therefore, you are not exempt from any portion of the placement testing unless you meet one of the following criteria:

• You took the ACT test within the last three calendar years and have a score of 21 or above in the reading section and you have taken the ACT Math section within the last two calendar years and scored 22 or above (Some math courses need a higher ACT score. Please discuss this with an advisor at orientation.) Please note: we must have these on file prior to your orientation session.
  
  
• You completed the Accuplacer assessment in Reading within the past three calendar years and the Math assessment within the past two calendar years, at another Minnesota State College or University and RCTC received a copy of your scores.
  
  
• You completed college level English and Math coursework at another institution and are exempt from testing.
