An Evening of Inspiration with Beat the Odds Recognition

Rochester Community and Technical College Foundation is pleased to announce the 17th Annual Beat the Odds Scholarship Event scheduled for Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the Rochester International Event Center. This event highlights the inspiring achievements of five extraordinary students who have beaten the odds in their lives by overcoming significant obstacles and persevering to stay on a path to personal and academic achievement.

Representing Rochester and the surrounding communities, two local high school seniors and three first-year Rochester Community and Technical College students will each receive a $2,500 scholarship to either begin or continue their education at RCTC. More than $205,000 in Beat the Odds Scholarships have been awarded to 133 students in the last sixteen years. ABC 6 News, Mayo Clinic, and Wells Fargo, this year’s platinum sponsors, will be also be joined by business and community leaders from our community for this event which benefits the Rochester Community and Technical College Foundation in its mission to administer scholarships and provide program support.

We welcome the media to interview these remarkable students from 5 5:30 p.m. prior to the start of the event.
