Equine Open House set
This is a state of the art equestrian facility is only 17 minutes from the RCTC campus and features a heated barn and indoor arena, 30 stalls, and a viewing area.
The Silver Springs Equestrian Center is a wonderful facility for the equine science program, said RCTC Equine Science Instructor, Julie Christie. The college horses that we use for teaching are fabulous. There are a nice range of breeds, sizes, and ages for our students to work with.
This semester, each colt starting student was given a young, untrained horse to work with. Christie added, throughout the semester, our students have not only taken care of these horses but gained the respect and trust of these horses so that they can lunge, ground drive, and ride them. Students will be demonstrating what they have been working on with their young horses for the past three months.
The Open House, located at 10226 65th Street, Elgin, will include barn tours of the Silver Springs Equestrian Center and riding demonstrations by RCTC students. All are welcome to come see the facility, horses, and students. This event is free and open to the public. No pets please.
