Rochester Community and Technical College’s Equine Science program is hosting an Open House Monday, December 14, from 2?5 p.m. at the Silver Springs Equestrian Center located at 10226 65th Street, Elgin, Minnesota (only 17 minutes from the RCTC campus).

This is a brand new facility for RCTC students. Equine Science Instructor, Julie Christie, said the Silver Springs Equestrian Center has been a wonderful facility for the equine science program. The college horses that we use for teaching are fabulous. There are a nice range of breeds, sizes, and ages for our students to work with.

The Open House will include barn tours of the equestrian facility and demonstration rides by RCTC students. These demonstrations will include Western Dressage Freestyles, Jumping, and Dressage Tests. Christie adds, our students are proud of the progress that they have made since the semester started and are going to be demonstrating some of these skills at the open house.

The demonstrations will begin with jumping around 2 p.m., followed by dressage tests and western freestyles ridden to music which the students have choreographed.

This event is free and open to the public. No pets please.
