Last week in athletics April 11
The Yellowjackets brought home three wins and a loss this past week.
On Saturday, April 9, the baseball team played two games against Vermilion.
The first game, the Yellowjackets won 15-0 in six innings.
Joe Helmer and Damon Nuss each scored three runs. Austin Baab hit a home run and had two RBIs. Zach Bakko had four RBIs, and Walker Linde and Anthony Rosario each had two. Helmer and John Brown each stole a base.
Pit her Dante Huffcutt-Grant faced 22 batters, only allowing two hits.
The next game, the Yellowjackets won 16-1.
Baab and Ernest Lemay Jr. each scored three runs. Baab, Dustin Nelson, and Matt Founttain each scored a homerun. Baab had five RBIs and Nelson had three. Brown and Zach Bakko each had two RBIs. Nelson stole a base.
On Sunday, April 10, the Yellowjackets won one and lost one against Itasca.
The first game, RCTC won 17-0 in five innings.
Brown scored five runs during the game. Bakko hit two homeruns during the game and had seven RBIs. Nelson had three RBIs.
The next game, the Yellowjackets lost 0-15 in five innings after Itasca had a big first inning, scoring 10 runs.
The Yellowjackets play next on Wednesday, April 13, at 2 and 4 p.m. against Anoka-Ramsey.
The Lady Yellowjackets took on St. Cloud and Anoka-Ramsey over the past week, losing three and winning one game.
On Friday, April 8, the Yellowjackets took on St. Cloud, losing 3-4 and 3-7.
The first game, Haley Vanourney, Kayla Branstad, and Makayla Kaeppel each scored a run. Branstad had a homerun and an RBI. Ashleigh Dralle also had an RBI. Christina Stanger stole a base.
The second game was tied at the bottom of the sevent inning, 3-3. St. Cloud scored four runs in the eighth the win the game over the Yellowjackets.
Stanger, Kaeppel, and Sammy Hogan each scored a run. Hogan and Stanger also each scored a homerun. Vanourney, Hogan, and Stanger had one RBI each.
On Saturday, April 9, the team played Anoka-Ramsey, winning the first gam 7-0 and losing the second 1-3.
The first game, Paige Gadient scored two runs. Hogan and McKayla Ahlich each had two RBIs, and Stanger and Branstad had one each.
The second game, the Yellowjackets? run was scored by Vanourney, brought in by Hogan’s batting.
The Yellowjackets face Riverland next on Tuesday, April 12, at 3 and 5 p.m.
The team is currently ranked seventh in NJCAA DIII national polls.
