Men’s basketball

The men’s basketball team played three times last week, winning twice and losing once.

On Tuesday, Dec. 8, the team hosted Crossroads College and won 96-71.

Isaiah Coddon sank a whopping 29 points, and William Sandier and Ben Ratliff sank 15 and 12, respectively.

Coddon got three three-pointers, and Cameron Jackson and Demetrius Cady each scored one three-pointer. The team had 46 rebounds and snagged 76% of their free throws.

On Friday, Dec. 11, the team traveled to Central Lakes in Brainerd but lost a close game 78-77.

RCCTC was 12 points behind at the half, but came back strong in the second with 11 points more than CLC, but it wasn’t enough to squeak past or into overtime.

Cady sank 20 points, and Ratliff and Marquise Walker each scored 14. Cady sank four three-pointers, and Ratlif two. Deonte Moore scored one. The Yellowjackets sank 80% of their free throws and had 32 rebounds.

RCTC rebounded on Saturday when they played Fond du Lac, winning 90-60. Walker sank 20 points during the game. Ratliff and Cady each sank two three-pointers, and Coddon sank one. The Yellowjackets had 49 rebounds.

The Yellowjackets play next on Monday, Dec. 14, against St. Thomas JV at 7 p.m. This will be their last game until Saturday, Jan. 2.

 

Women’s basketball

The women’s basketball team improved their record last week with three more wins.

On Tuesday, Dec. 8, the Yellowjackets took on Luther JV at home and won 86-72.

Nathalie Ratliff sank a big 24 points, and Johanna Bungum scored another 22. Rathliff nailed four of five three-pointer attempts. The team had 37 rebounds and shot 80% of their free throws.

On Friday, Dec. 11, the Yelowjackets scored big over Central Lakes, 94-56.

Bungum sank 20 points, and Reed Klunder added 18. Klunder also sank two three-pointers. The team had 56 rebounds and nearly 70% of their free throws.

Saturday, Dec. 12, the ladies took on Fond du Lac and won 75-49. Bungum scored 12 points, and Justine Gonzalez 11. Ratliff, Bungum, and Gonzalez each sank a three-pointer.

The team grabbed 37 rebounds and hit nearly 67% of the free throws.

The Yellowjackets play next on Friday, Dec. 18, at the Anoka-Ramsey Classic at 2 p.m.

 

Wrestling

The Yellowjackets traveled to St. Cloud on Saturday, Dec. 12, for the Husky Open.

Open Division: Curt Palodichuk placed sixth in the 133 weight class; Coltan Laganiere placed fourth in the 157 weight class; and Tyler Vogt placed fourth and Connor Hanson fifth in the 165 weight class.

The wrestling team will meet again at the Northland Community College Triangular on Thursday, Jan. 7 at 6 p.m.
