RCTC Names Vice President of Student Affairs

MichaelAnthonyRochester Community and Technical College is pleased to announce Michael Anthony, Ph. D. as the College’s next Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.?

Dr. Anthony comes to RCTC from Oakton Community College in Des Plaines, IL, where he served as the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and Chief Diversity Officer (CDO). As second in command of the Student Affairs Division, he had administrative responsibility over student conduct, the disability resource center, and worked with the Vice President and Dean of Student Success to advance enrollment and student success goals. As CDO, he coordinated college-wide diversity and inclusion training, programming, and compliance efforts, including serving as the Title IX Coordinator.

Dr. Anthony earned his Ph. D. in Educational Leadership and Organizational Development from the University of Louisville (KY), where he also worked for 10 years in various functional areas including housing and residence life, student leadership and service learning, international service learning, and multicultural affairs. While at the University of Louisville he also led the state association for student affairs professionals, and has been involved nationally within the student affairs profession since then. Dr. Anthony is published in the area of African American male success in college and in leadership pedagogy. He currently has adjunct faculty appointments at both Loyola University Chicago and the University of Louisville.

RCTC Interim President Joyce Helens said,Dr. Anthony’s leadership and dedication to student success will assist RCTC to move to its next level of excellence in serving students. Incoming Interim President Mary Davenport is pleased with the selection and has spoken with Dr. Michael Anthony. She noted that Dr. Anthony’s commitment to student success is completely on track with the purpose of the College and its goals aimed at closing the achievement gap.

The Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management is the Chief Student Affairs Officer with responsibility for the College’s student services areas including admissions, financial aid, student life, student conduct, security and athletics.

Dr. Anthony earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management/Marketing from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC, and his Master of Arts in Higher Education from the University of Louisville. Anthony’s first day on campus will be July 5th.
