RCTC offers occupational grant

Rochester Community and Technical College is excited to announce a pilot grant program that will provide financial assistance to students enrolled in qualifying career and technical programs.

The MnSCU Two-Year Occupational Grant Pilot Program was created by the 2015 Minnesota Legislature so students at Minnesota State Colleges and Universities two-year colleges can complete occupational and career programs within two years or less and find employment in a high-demand occupations. Qualifying RCTC programs (certificate, diploma and/or Associate’s degree) include Business, Health Care, Technical/Trade, Computer Science, and many more.

This exciting program is for 2016 high school grads (HS, GED, or AmeriCorps) and they must meet certain financial and academic criteria to be eligible for this grant. Specific qualifications are located at www.rctc.edu/free. This website also outlines additional information about the grant including the application process, how the money will be disbursed plus deadlines and performance qualifications. The grant funds are intended to cover any remaining tuition and general fees students may have after Pell and state grants ?not books or course/program specific fees.

Again, students must be 2016 HS or GED graduates (or 2015 AmeriCorps students), and will have a limited window of opportunity for this grant being that funds will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. Interested students should begin their application process as early as possible to help ensure they will? meet all necessary qualifications for this grant.
