Student Success Day (SSD) is an opportunity to connect with friends, faculty and staff while attending sessions designed to help you succeed at RCTC and beyond! THERAPY SERVICES OFFERED!
RCTC and Zumbro Valley Health Center have partnered to provide on-site psychotherapy services to our students. Sheri Pearson, LICSW, will start accepting appointments after the first week of classes for the following days and times:
- Mondays – 8:00am to 12:00pm
- Tuesdays – 9:00am to 5:00pm
- Thursdays – 1:00pm to 5:00pm
- Fridays – 8:00am to 12:00pm

CHANGE IN FINANCIAL AID FOR SPRING SEMESTER
In general, your Financial Aid is based on the number of credits you are enrolled in, as of a “census date.” For Spring Semester, the census date is Friday, January 18, 2019.
In the past, RCTC allowed exceptions (and adjusted Financial Aid) for students who added courses after this date. Beginning Spring Semester 2019, Financial Aid adjustments for late registrations are no longer allowed. Courses added after the census date will NOT be considered for Financial Aid. This restriction applies even if the course being added is required for graduation.
What can you do to ensure you receive Financial Aid for all of your credits?
- Finalize your Spring Semester registration on or before January 18, 2019. If you plan to take late-start courses, you must be registered for them at the beginning of the term.
- At any time, if you are considering a change to your registration (regardless of the reason), contact your Advisor first! We want to make sure you understand how the change may affect your academic plan and your Financial Aid eligibility.

PHI THETA KAPPA INVITES TO ARRIVE SOON!
Attention students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher! Be checking your email in the next few weeks for an invitation to join Phi Theta Kappa, the ONLY Honor Society officially recognized by RCTC. Phi Theta Kappa members make the most of their community college experience by being active members of our chapter and contributing their time and talents to activities related to PTK’s hallmarks of scholarship, leadership, fellowship, and service.
Invitations to join Phi Theta Kappa will come directly from Dr. Jamie Mahlberg, RCTC psychology instructor and Phi Theta Kappa advisor. You can feel comfortable treating all other “honor society” invitations (honorsociety.org, email@example.com, etc.) as spam and deleting them.

As we continue in the winter season, now is the time to remind everyone of the policies and procedures followed should classes need to be canceled, or the campus needs to close, due to a weather or other emergency.
All students are encouraged to sign up for the RCTC Emergency Alert, an emergency alert text-messaging system that enables RCTC to notify subscribers of any campus-related emergency, such as potential campus safety hazards or campus closures due to weather.
During questionable weather conditions, a number of factors will be considered in making the decision on whether to delay the start of classes or close the campus. These include, but are not limited to: Are state highways open and snowplows operating? Are local transit systems running? Is wind, cold, or ice a factor? Are power or heating systems affected?
During an emergency, an emergency alert email will be sent to all RCTC students and employees, and a phone call/text message will be sent to all subscribers of the RCTC Emergency Alert system. In addition, RCTC’s Facebook, Twitter, and website will have up-to-date information, the College’s main switchboard will have a recorded message with the status of any campus closing (507-285-7210), and the following media outlets will be notified:
- Radio: KRCH/Laser 101.7; 102.5 (The Fox); KWEB; KROC AM/FM; Y105; KWWK, KLCX, and KDZZ
- Television: KTTC-TV; FOX 47-TV and KAAL-TV
In the event of inclement weather, RCTC will make every effort to make an announcement by 6:00am whether the campus will be closed or have a delayed start for the day. The decision to cancel evening classes will be made by 3:00pm.
Because weather and related road conditions are not the same in every area where students live, the decision as to whether it is safe to travel ultimately resides with each individual.
Please remember, the personal safety of the members of the campus community is RCTC’s number one priority in making any weather-related decision about campus operations. Check out the RCTC Weather/Emergency Policy.
Faculty individually canceling classes for personal or medical leave will be posted at Daily Faculty Absences.

RCTC STUDENT PRINTING
RCTC implemented student print accounting to promote Green conservation, help control rising printing costs, and aid in keeping student technology fees down. The following information represents RCTC’s student printing guidelines.
RCTC students will receive 500 sheets/credits of paper into their print accounts at the start of each semester which can be used for either single sided or double sided (duplex) black laser printing.
Currently the Library Technology Center (LTC), located on the third floor of the library, and the Comprehensive Learning Center (AT306), support duplex printing. RCTC is continually expanding duplex printing services throughout campus and will keep updated changes on the RCTC Student Printing webpage.
Each student that logs on to a campus computer will be able to track and purchase additional sheets/credits of paper through the print management account icon on the computer desktop.

SCHOLARSHIP PORTAL CLOSING IN LESS THAN 30 DAYS
The RCTC Foundation’s scholarship portal is still open but will close in less than one month on Friday, February 15, 2019 at 4:00 pm! Please apply if you need financial assistance to attend RCTC. Check out the Scholarship Portal today! It is important to remember that these scholarships will be for Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 and the portal will not open again until later this year.

DEAN’S LIST/PRESIDENT’S LIST/HIGH ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT – FALL 2018
Beginning with Fall 2018, excellence in scholastic achievement will be recognized by compiling three lists of students. The qualifications for each list are as follows:
- Dean’s List: Students must have completed 12 credits or more for the same semester with a 3.0-3.74 GPA. Students on the Dean’s List will receive an email of recognition signed by the VPs of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs.
- President’s List: Students must have completed 12 credits or more for the same semester with a 3.75-4.0 GPA. Students on the President’s List will receive a hard copy letter and certification signed by the President.
- High Academic Achievement: Students must have completed 3-11 credits for the same semester with a 3.75-4.0 GPA. Students on the High Academic Achievement List will receive an email of recognition signed by the VPs of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs.
Additionally, the credit courses completed must have earned grade points. Credits for P (Pass) and grades of I (Incomplete), AU (Audit), and W (Withdrawal), and NC (No Credit) are excluded from the count. These lists are posted in the Admissions and Records area and at the Heintz Center, as well as distributed to local media. A listing can also be downloaded from the College website. The list should be available after January 15, 2019.
LIBRARY ORIENTATION TOURS – SPRING 2019
This spring, Goddard Library will once again offer orientation tours designed to introduce students to the library. Topics include library services, navigating the library website, a tour of the library.
Following is the Spring 2019 schedule. No registration is required; students should meet at the Reference/Information desk. Tours take approximately 30 minutes.
