Student President Election
On behalf of the Student Senate, it is my privilege to announce that we have elected the 2014-2015 Student President. At our special meeting on April 1, 2014, Student Senate Vice President Michael Wenzel was elected by our voting body. As Student Senate Vice President, Mike chairs the Senate Working Documents Committee, is an ex-officio member of the Student Life Finance Committee, and serves as the Student representative on the all-College Technology Committee. Last fall, Mike led our Senate Constitution and By-Laws revision efforts, attended Dr. John Asmussen’s Developmental Education Study staff development day presentation, assisted in greeting and escorting members of the MN House of Representatives and MN Senate Capital Investment Committee’s during their campus visits, and was a New Student Orientation Day volunteer. This spring, Mike led the RCTC delegation to the Minnesota State College Student Association Summit in Washington, D. C. and participated in the Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management and Presidential candidate staff or student forums. In all of these efforts, Mike has strived to better understand the opportunities and challenges that face our state two-year college students, the RCTC student body, Student Life, Athletics, the Fine Arts programs we support, and the Student Senate. Any success that the Student Senate has attained this year is due in no small part to Mike’s leadership and service.
Student President-elect Wenzel will take office effective at midnight on May 15, 2014.
Please join the Student Senate in congratulating Student President-elect Mike Wenzel; he can be reached at Michael.email@example.com or in his office (CC401).
