Ward Named RCTC Foundation Executive Director


Ward, Deb_20150803_07(Rochester, MN)? Rochester Community and Technical College and the RCTC Foundation are pleased to announce Deb Ward has been named the next Executive Director of the Rochester Community and Technical College Foundation.?Ms. Ward brings more than 20 years of experience in non-profit fundraising and management to the Foundation. Specifically, she has held key leadership and fundraising roles in areas including grantsmanship, annual fund, individual and corporate solicitations, and special events?notably in healthcare, consulting, and education.

I am anxious to work with new interim president, Dr. Mary Davenport, staff, faculty, students, board members, donors, and collaborative partners?as we strive to meet our mission to?provide accessible, affordable, quality learning opportunities to serve a diverse and growing community, said Ward. I am honored to be a part of the team that will chart the future for RCTC.

Ms. Ward holds a Master’s Degree in Philanthropy and Development from Saint Mary’s University (MN) and is also a Certified Fund Raising Executive. She is also author of numerous articles in publications including Advancing Philanthropy, eSchool News, T. H. E. Funding Source, Technology & Learning, Education Grants Alert, School Planning and Management, and Principal. She has also authored two texts on grant proposal writing and grant management (Jones and Bartlett Learning).

RCTC Interim President Joyce Helens said Deb Ward is a talented development professional with both practical experience and an educational background in development and philanthropy. She will be a welcome addition to the RCTC Foundation, and I am sure with the new leadership at the College and foundation, the next academic year will be one of dynamic growth and success!

Incoming RCTC Interim President, Dr. Mary Davenport, adds,I was impressed by Deb’s passion for the role of the RCTC Foundation in helping students achieve their dreams through an RCTC education. Deb’s strong background within healthcare advancement and teaching nonprofit service sectors coursework will help build the Foundation’s donor capacity to make a meaningful impact for our students through scholarships, program improvement, and equipment gifts.

The Executive Director, working in concert with the Foundation Board and the College, is charged with the responsibility of managing analysis, planning, execution, control and evaluation of the fund raising and selected public relations programs for the RCTC Foundation.

Lynn Clarey, RCTC Foundation Board President said,RCTC has had a number of positive changes under the leadership of Interim President Joyce Helens and the Foundation Board of Directors is grateful to her for the work she has done. The faculty, staff, and students have rallied with support of the new administration. The college is poised for great things in the coming year including reaffirmation of its accreditation. I feel strongly that with Deb’s leadership, the Foundation will be able to assist even more students and further their education with additional scholarship support in the future.

Ms. Ward’s first day on campus will be July 11th.
