Women’s Basketball finishes season

The RCTC women’s basketball team played in the NJCAA Region XIIIA tournament this past weekend, making it to the championship game before losing to Anoka-Ramsey.

On Saturday, Feb. 27, the Yellowjackets took on Minnesota State Community and Technical College, winning 77-64. The ladies really pulled away in the second quarter, leading at the half by 12 points.

Johanna Bungum led with 17 points scored, including two three-pointers. Reed Klunder sank four three-pointers during the game. Nathalie Ratliff had seven steals.

The women then played Anoka-Ramsey on Sunday, Feb. 28, losing 55-77.

Ratliff scored 16 points during the game, including four three-pointers.

The women’s basketball team finished the season 16-10 overall and 8-2 in conference.

“After starting the season 0-5 and going 16-5 in our last 21 games, I will take that,” head coach Steve Hucke said. “I am extremely proud of what this team accomplished and to have a chance to get to the National Tournament was where we wanted to be.”
