Google is often the first place people look when they are searching for a job. However, sometimes there are opportunities closer than one thinks.<\/p>\n
On Nov. 1, there was a career fair in the RCTC Fieldhouse, which was packed full of booths for different profession options.<\/p>\n
There were many stands, but a few employers represented were Dave Syverson Truck Centers, Rochester Public Transit and SAS Retail Services.<\/p>\n
The Olmsted County has jobs that open daily. Some job options they have available are positions as social workers and clerical. Many of their jobs are full-time positions.<\/p>\n
The Center City Housing Corporation provides permanent supportive housing for the formerly homeless. They are looking for part-time front desk tenant assistants.<\/p>\n
Judy Aspling, the Human Resources Director, said that jobs with them, are excellent for people who want to go into social services careers because it gives them a completely different viewpoint. To contact Center City Housing Corp, call 218-722-7161.<\/p>\n
The MN Reading and Math Corps is seeking to hire tutors. No prior teaching education is required because they provide training. If interested, apply online at minessotareadingcorps.org<\/p>\n
Tutors would work with children from preschool through third grade in their literacy program. Tutors also help students in fourth to eighth grade with math understanding.<\/p>\n
Research shows that children are more likely to be successful based on their literacy skills, especially when they reach a sufficient reading level. Studies also show that more than 90 percent of students who drop out of high school lack proper understanding of math.<\/p>\n
