The event was held to recognize and honor people of African descent and show RCTC students, staff and faculty pride in African heritage.<br>\nThe audience got to hear African music, see a variety of African dances, and even taste African cuisine. Among the performances of the night were several poets, a rapper, and an African fashion show.<br>\nThere were also two keynote speakers, Mana Mohamed and Mia Erickson, who left the audience with plenty to think about. Mohamed discussed about how one could leave a legacy with their actions and reminded the audience that the impacts they made now could outlast them and affect future generations beneficially.<br>\nErickson described about her experience as the first black woman on the United States women\u2019s bobsled national team.
