Course Description

This course is a lecture/lab. We will learn to bring our classroom learning experiences to the lab. In this course we will have a deeper understanding of how transmission Software and Hardware work together to provide a smooth driving experience. This class will also provide training to change fluids in modern automatic transmissions and CVT’s. This Course aligns with ASE standard: Automatic Transmission/Transaxle.

Learning Outcomes (General)

The student will be able to:

  1. Show Proper diagnosis of automatic transmission Controls.
  2. Diagnose automatic transmission Valve bodies.
  3. Repair Shift Solenoid, Pressure Controls and Gear Changes.
  4. Show comprehensive skills with use of wire schematics.
  5. Properly service CVT transmission and use correct fluids.
  6. Service fluids in various styles of automatic transmissions, including flushing techniques and filter changes.
