Course Description

This course is a hands-on lab class in which various transmissions and transaxles are diagnosed, basic overhaul techniques are demonstrated. Specialty tools are used, mastering scan tool data, and proving excellent diagnostic strategies. This class aligns with ASE standard: Automatic Transmission/Transaxle.

Learning Outcomes (General)

The student will be able to:

1. Pressure test automatic transmissions.
2. Perform fluid Inspections.
3. Diagnose fluid loss.
4. Perform noise diagnosis within automatic transmissions and driveline.
5. Diagnose various shift concerns.
6. Inspect planetary gear sets, clutch packs, and sprag clutches.
7. Replace an automatic transmission.
8. Flush and replace oil coolers and oil cooler lines.
