Course Description

This course covers the various medications commonly used. Additional topics covered will be drug classifications, modes of administration, and characteristics of typical drugs. Correct spelling and proper interpretation of medications in dictated material will be emphasized.

The student will be able to:

1. Recognize drug terminology, measurement, and abbreviations.
2. Identify different pharmaceutical references.
3. Identify and spell medications correctly for the following: Immune System, Integumentary System, Skeletal System, Nervous System, Muscular System, Sensory System, Cardiovascular System, Respiratory System, Digestive System, Endocrine System, Genitourinary System, Fluids and Electrolytes, and Cancer.
4. Articulate the terminology and purpose of the following medical specialties: Oncology, Psychiatry, and Radiology.
5. Apply medical terminology, diagnostic procedures, and the medications, treatment modalities pertaining to diseases, injuries, and abnormalities of the human body
