Course Description

This course provides the opportunity to develop physical skills in the performance of a number of social/ballroom dances, as well, as an appreciation for the art and skill of social dance. The dances will include a variety of steps in the fox-trot, waltz, swing, two-step, mambo, rumba, cha-cha, polka and line dance.

Learning Outcomes (General)

The student will be able to:

  1. Perform the basic steps of all dances.
  2. Perform the aforementioned skills in a synchronized fashion in relation to the rhythm of specific music.
  3. Audibly recognize the different styles and tempos of music and match with appropriate dance steps.
  4. Demonstrate the ability to lead or follow, according to the specific ballroom dance steps.
