Course Description

This course is an exercise-based participation class designed to increase muscle strength, endurance, tone and flexibility, using a variety of progressive resistance techniques. Other aspects discussed include the five health related components of fitness including muscle strength, muscle endurance, flexibility, body composition, flexibility and cardiovascular efficiency. Basic nutrition concepts are explored as they relate to body composition, daily intake and proper nutrition for both healthy living and fitness performance.

  6. Identify and demonstrate methods for assessing muscle strength and endurance.
  7. Describe specific methods for improving muscular strength.
  8. Analyze labels for nutrient information in making healthy choices for daily living and exercise performance.
